When we talk about ‘Article Marketing’, I believe you might heard that it is a very powerful traffic generation. Almost many Internet marketers use this strategy. However, most people fail to get lots of traffic.
Do you know why?
Let’s talk about 2 years ago when I first started article marketing for my business. This is basically what I do everyday:
Every morning (or sometimes at night), I will stare at my computer screen to come out for new ideas to write an articles. When an idea flash through my head, I will quickly grab it and type an article.
Of course, the process doesn’t go as smooth as “just type the idea into a 400 words article”. In the process of turning that piece of idea into an article, I need to come out with examples, explanations, points to support, good opening and a good closing. It usually takes 1-2 hours.
Finally, I’ll put a good title for it and submit to EzineArticles.com (the largest article directory on the Internet). I do the same thing everyday for a week.
“Wow! 7 articles in a row! That must be a lot of traffic!”
I got to tell you honestly “No. I got less than 10 visitors in total.” I did what all the gurus have said- “Just write articles and submit them to EzineArticles.com.” What’s wrong?
If I didn’t ask those 2 words at that point, I might not be able to realize some facts and write this post to you. Here’s what’s wrong in 3 sentences:
1.People are not interested in reading the next new idea.
2.There are only interested in reading how to solve their problems or how to get what they want.
3.Writing articles with new ideas is merely about ‘writing what I want to write’ and NOT ‘writing what others want to read’.
Since the day I realize my own mistakes, I stop looking for new ideas to write…
I start looking for what others want to read!
The results?!
I got 10 – 20 times more traffic from every article I submitted!
I spend 30 minutes or less to write an article.
I don’t need to stare at my computer for new ideas anymore.
So, here’s the old article marketing formula I used:
Brainstorm –> Write –> Submit
Here’s the New Formula:
Understand –> Write –> Submit
I start from understanding what my target visitors want to read. Then, I simply write what they want to read and know. Finally, I submit my articles to places they go.
