Yesterday was a long post. I’m going to make this post Short and Sweet. Today, you’ll be learning how to get website owners to publish your articles.
In fact, you are getting ‘List Owners’ and not website owners to publish your article!
It is not easy to get website owners to publish your articles on their website. Website owners are more interested to get their first time visitors to subscribe to their lists, click on their ads or buy something from them. They don’t want your article to be a distraction that influence their main business activities.
However, it will be great if they could send something valuable to their subscribers to build relationship. Most website owners have a huge list of subscribers because it is an important asset to them. They need to send 1 or 2 emails to them every week. Subscribers usually read their email only if they can get something valuable from them. It could be a tip or some knowledge.
These website owners or list owners might run out of ideas and have nothing to send to their subscribers. If you are a good friend of these list owners, what do you think if they read something good on your blog? What action will they take if you tell them you have a good article to contribute?
Yes. They will share it with their subscribers. They might share with them by writing a short summary about your article and link to the original article. Or they might send the original article you contributed with a link back to your blog.
Either ways you’ll get traffic. These are the steps you could do to achieve it:
1. Find these website owners
You could find them by typing keywords into Google and do a search. Check out those websites which have good Alexa ranking. If they have an opt-in box, they have a list!
Remember to find website owners that have similar topic and not exactly the same. If both of you are doing exactly the same business, both of you are competing directly or indirectly. It might be hard or sometimes impossible to get your articles published.
2. Build Relationship
The next step will be building relationship and make friends with the owner. You can do this by subscribing to their lists and reply to their follow up message sometimes. If he/she is willing to give you their personal email, share with them news and resources that will help their business. Share with them what you are doing with your blog too.
Don’t immediately jump to your request. They don’t like it and you might lose them as a friend forever too.
3. Give First Before You Request
You can send them an email to tell them their offer is very good and would like to promote your blog readers to them. After sending that email, really start to promote them on your blog. Talk a bit about their website and link to them.
When the website owner felt they are given something, they would like to give you something back in return. If they saw a sudden increase in traffic, they are happy to do the same as well. You can also send an email to them about your new article and would like them to promote to their subscribers.
This process take a longer time. Don’t try to get them to publish your article once a month. You might be able to get them to publish your article only once every few months.
However, don’t worry about traffic! If they have few thousand subscribers and half of them read your article. You might get hundreds of visitors!
