Since I said that article marketing is not limited to submitting your articles to article directories, does it mean article directories are dead?

This method is not dead! You can still get traffic by submitting your articles to article directories. These are the 3 Incredibly Powerful Methods that I’m still using with Article Directories:

1. Article SEO:
I’m not sure how other article marketers named this method. This method is to use your article (not blog) to rank #1 in Google for some keywords. This method is widely used by good article marketers.

Articles are good at simple SEO because Article directories are authority sites. Google rank higher for webpages which are from authority websites. Another reason is that the Article Directories itself is linking to the article you submitted too.

Article Marketers optimized their article to rank with the following steps:

Step 1: Insert you keywords in the title. Make sure the keywords are the only words in the title or the first few words in the title. For example: If you want to rank for “How to get traffic to your website”, use the whole thing as your title or start your title with these words such as “How to get traffic to your websites easily!”.

Step 2: Keep your keyword density within 3% - 6%. you might repeat your keywords few times in a paragraph.

Step 3: Build some links to your article. Don’t build links that are too obvious. You can use dofollow social bookmarking to build those links. When you use normal social bookmarking services to bookmark your page, Google doesn’t count that link as a backlink. However, dofollow social bookmarking site allows that link as a backlink.

2. Sub-category Domination:
Another method is to go to EzineArticles.com. Choose few sub-categories that are related to your topic. Randomly choose 10 articles and look for this sentence below the article “This article has been viewed XX time(s).” This number will tell you how many times this article is read in this sub-category.

Get the average times of the article viewed. If the average is higher than 50-100, you can start submitting your articles there. You’ll get around 15 – 30 visitors per article submitted to the sub-category.

This is a secret method I discovered. Maybe it’s not that secretive anymore because I shared with some of my friends already.

Most people submit their articles blindly without knowing the average times each article will be viewed in that sub-category. This average number tells you exactly how many times you article will be read if you submit into this sub-category. Some people are submitting their articles to sub-categories which have less than 10 average views and wondering why are they getting little traffic.

3. Auto Submission Services:
Although some people find that article directories is not a good place to get traffic. Article marketers still find article directories a good place to Build High Quality One-Way Backlinks to their website. They usually use auto submission service or software to save their time.

However, there’s an untold truth about this method most people don’t know. Some service or software claim that they can submit articles to hundreds and thousands of places. Do you believe them?

I think you should. They won’t make claims easily. However, it is useless to get your articles submitted to hundreds of places.

Just imagine this:

If you submitted an article named “How to get lots of traffic for free” to hundreds of article directories. There will be basically hundreds of pages that have exactly the same thing on the Internet right? If someone typed in Google “How to get lots of traffic for free”, do you think Google will show all the pages?

Definitely not. Since it’s all the same, why should Google show all of them to frustrated their users and get them to think that “Why G**gle is so stupid and useless? Why it gives me all the same thing?”

To prevent this, Google might not even indexed some of the pages that are the same. This means that the link in your article on most of the article directories will not be counted as backlinks. I used to submit articles to a service that claimed that they could submit articles to around 6000 sites.

Well… 230++ are indexed. Less than 30 backlinks to my blog.

Not to scare you. I just want to share with you what can you expect. I promise to be honest with you and not to make things up.

Another Bonus Tip:
I’m going to reward you this tip for spending so much time reading this article. Another way to get lots of traffic with article directories is to get your articles to be the most viewed or most published articles on EzineArticles.com.

If many people viewed your articles or published your articles on their website within 90 days, you’ll get 500 – 3000 readers on your article. If 10% converted into visitors, you’ll get 50 – 300 visitors. Most people submit their articles and wait.

Well… you don’t need to do that! You can make some friends with bloggers and request them to publish your articles on their blog or you can send an email to your subscribers to read your article on EzineArticles.com.

However, keep this method to yourself. And don’t use this too often because you might get caught for manipulating their site.
