Hi Blogger,
You might have read about all kinds of Basic SEO Strategies and even some Blog SEO Techniques in Blog Traffic Geek. But you might be curious what’s the difference between Blog SEO and Normal SEO. In fact, there are huge difference and that’s what makes me more interested in Blog SEO. They are:
1. Biasness To Blogs
I love to mention this point. Search engines love blogs because they are perceived as a website that update fresh content and information about a particular topic. If you are Google, will you rank a website that is always providing the latest information higher or the website that doesn’t change for years?
I used to do many research on the search engines and I realized some that blogs that are getting less backlinks rank higher than websites that have lots of backlinks and webpages.
2. Speed Of Updating
Can you update a normal website within minutes?
I don’t think so. If you want to update a normal website, you need to open your web editing software and pull out old webpages and start changing. After you finish editing your webpages, you need to login your webhosting and upload them.
That’s not the end, you need to check the links, the images and the alignment. If there’s a slight mistake, do the whole process again. That’s what I did before blogging!
So, what about blogs?
You login, your type and maybe upload some pictures and click the ‘Publish’ button. It’s done and it’s usually free from error. The faster you can upload the page you want to rank for, the faster you can rank for your keywords because Google love sites and blogs that have their content change very often. It means that website is providing latest information frequently.
3. Speed Of Indexing
I used to share that my post get indexed by Google within minutes. That’s the power of ‘Ping’. ‘Ping’ is one of the default function of a Wordpress blog. Everytime you publish a new post or edit an old post, your blog will use ‘Ping’ to inform many websites that your blog have something new. Within minutes, some search engines will index your page and probably send you some visitors.
Compare to a normal website, it might take weeks and months to get it indexed.
4. Power Of Interlinking
It is very easy for each of the webpages in your blog to link to each other. Interlinking helps you in ranking for your keywords. When each of your pages are linked together, they help your main page to rank for the keywords you are aiming and your visitors to read more.
If you want to do interlinking with a normal website, it will be a headache. You need to load your editing software and start editing all your pages. If you plan to have all your pages link to a certain page and you have hundreds of webpages, you need to edit hundreds of pages and upload them to your web hosting.
5. Untargeted Search Engine Traffic
The power of Blog SEO doesn’t stop at the keyword you only plan to rank for. Your blog and pages might getting traffic for many keywords you aren’t even aware of due to the power of Blog SEO. When you blog posts is indexed faster and the interlinking structure of your blog is strong, you’ll get these kind of traffic.
For example: When you type “how to get 600 backlinks” in Google, you might find one of my blog post on the first page. Did I build any backlinks and aim for that keyword?
Nope. I didn’t realize I’m ranking for this keyword until Google Analytics told me.
These are the reason I love Blog SEO and share it with you. Hope everyone have fun with it.
