increase blog traffic

When I first learned about SEO, I realized that ranking high for search results is called “Search Engine Optimization”. There’s a reason why it is called Search Engine Optimization and not Search Engine Manipulation or Search Engine Domination.

No one can dominate or manipulate Google. They have a great algorithm and they have lots of genius perfecting it. We can optimize but can’t manipulate nor dominate it.

The #1 rule I learned from SEO: “Don’t try to game Google. Make them win and you’ll win!”

To make Google win, we need to understand their business first. Their business is to help internet users to search for the most relevant, accurate and quality information with speed and convenience. If you can help Google in that, you win the SEO game.

For example: There are many internet users are trying to search more information about “acne treatment”. When they do a search on Google, Google gives them the best information about acne treatment at a short time. If Google are not good at doing that, people might switch to Yahoo or other search engines.

So, if you want to rank high for acne treatment, provide some really good information on your website. And optimize it! When people search for “acne treatment” again, they found your site and love the content. The users are happy, Google is happy and you are happy. The users get the information they want, Google get to attract and retain its users, you get the traffic and probably sales. This is win-win-win!

That’s how you help Google to win. If the users find that you content is bad, Google and the users loses. And your site’s ranking will go down.

So, my Blog SEO approaches in simple concepts:

Step 1: Keyword Research

The intention is to help Google to find what are the keywords that don’t have high quality content yet (or not). This will lead you to high traffic keywords which have low competition.

Step 2: Optimize

Use SEO strategies to optimize my blog for ranking.

Step 3: High quality content

Provide high quality content that helps Google and its users to win.

When the users love my content, more sites will link to my blog and Google will keep my blog high. Cool huh?
