I just mentioned that the Blog SEO experiment has failed. I do feel a bit sad, but I learned a great lesson.
Today, I decided to check how much backlinks am I getting that caused Google to penalize my blog. So, here’s the result:
6 PR4 backlinks
9 PR3 backlinks
14 PR2 backlinks
5 PR 1 backlinks
And other backlinks which come out a total of 69 backlinks within few 5 days.
With these results, I’m pretty sure how it get penalized. I get almost 50 of those backlinks within 2 days. They are all from one single source- A Dofollow Blog With Shows Recent Comments On The Sidebar.
Now, what so special about this kind of dofollow blog with a recent comment on the sidebar?
When you comment on these kind of blogs, you got to be very careful if you blog is less than one year old! When you comment on the blog, the blog will automatically show your name with a link to your blog and the post you commented. This is not going to just appear on the blog’s main page, it will appear in hundreds of other posts from the blog too.
That means you might easily get 20-50 backlinks by just giving one comment within few days. If your blog is new, you don’t want this to happen because Google will immediately think that you are trying to manipulate search results and jail your blog in the sandbox.
Take note of this on the sidebar and some bloggers might put these function below the footer. Another plugin you need to be aware on dofollow blogs are the plugin that shows “Top Commentors” on the sidebar. That will create lots of backlinks to your blog if you are the top commentor of the blog.
Hope you learn a lot from this simple Blog SEO experiment and I can’t wait to start another one to share with you!
