If you are struggling for traffic, what you are going to read will be very important. Most people are getting very little traffic for their blogs because they are not effectively leveraging others to get traffic.
“Huh? Leveraging others?”
This might be something new. What you’ve been learning about traffic are probably “Traffic Generation Strategies” and not “Traffic Leveraging Strategies”. Leveraging traffic is very different way to increase blog traffic.
There are thousands of websites who are getting millions of traffic everyday. You don’t need to generate another new visitor. All you need to do is just get these website owners to redirect some of their traffic to your blog willingly.
Does this looks interesting?
These are the few ways of leveraging other websites to get massive traffic to your blog.
1. Leverage Google
Google is the world largest search engines which handle an average of 200 million searches per day. Imagine 1000 of those search queries lead to your blog, do you think that you’ll get lots of traffic?
That’s the reason why SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is such a hot and popular demand from most Internet Marketers and Bloggers. With SEO, they are able to direct part of their traffic into their own blog. By applying SEO strategies on their blog, they’ll get traffic from other search engines such as Yahoo and MSN too.
Besides SEO, Google Adwords is also another popular traffic strategy. It is a popular strategy not because people like to pay Google, but another way of leveraging Google for traffic. Instead of providing good content and build backlinks, they get to leverage Google for traffic instantly with cash from their own pocket. This strategy are used by such as Armand Morin, Ewen Chia, Mike Dillard and many other popular Internet Marketers.
2. Leverage Popular Websites
There are many success stories from people who leverage popular websites for traffic. One of the couple who manage to achieve great success with leveraging popular websites are Carlos and Lucia Lupe. They manage to get more than 50 million of visitors in a month. Does that sound scary to you?
“Oh my gosh! What have they done to get more than 1 million visitors per day?”
They leverage most of the Top 10 popular websites in the world with Effective Advertising. What they did was creating lots of different banner ads, landing page and sales page. After testing and knowing the best versions, they used it and advertise with Yahoo, MSN, Myspace and many other popular websites. They get some of their traffic from popular websites owner who got a huge list of subscribers too.
Another way of leveraging popular websites besides using Advertising is “Write Good Content”. If you create a piece of content that popular websites want it badly, they will get your content on their website with a link to your blog. This is another success story from a blogger who get thousands of visitors in a day after blogging for a month.
3. Leverage Blogs
Would you like to have popular blogs to give you some free traffic? There are a few steps to achieve this goal:
Step 1: Publish extremely good content on your blog that gives people a WOW experience. Of course, there are many ways to create good content but let’s just stick to WOW here.
Step 2: Comment on other blogs to build relationship with other bloggers. You have to build relationship with both A-List and B-List bloggers because you’ll never know when the B-List bloggers become popular.
Step 3: Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 often. When these bloggers know you well and like your content, they will write a summary of your content and post it on their blog with a link to the original (which is your blog).
Another way to get blog traffic from bloggers is through Guest Posting. Bloggers are always thinking of providing new content on their blog. If you are able to create fresh contents for them and their readers, they will be very grateful for that. All you need to do is just include a link to your blog in that guest post. When you reach a popular blog, read if there’s a link to “Guest Post” or “Contribute”.
4. Leverage Forums
Join a forum and help out forum members by answering their questions. Start interesting and good forum threads with a link to your blog at the signature area. When your forum threads turn into a hot topic or sticky post, you’ll get lots of traffic to your blog.
Popular forums get lots of traffic from the search engines too. So, you are leveraging the search engines a bit at the same time too.
Stephen Pierce used to create a hot discussion at Warrior Forum and he got the attention of the owner. The owner gets his forum thread on the sticky post which all members will get to see the thread on the first page.
5. Leverage Social Bookmarking Sites
Make friends with Social Bookmarkers at Stumble Upon, Digg, Sphin or Del.icio.us. You can do this through blog commenting because many bloggers are social boomakers too.
Publish contents that are jaw-dropping, ground breaking, heart warming, inspiring, interesting, funny or high value. When they find your post interesting, they will bookmark your post. This will get another 100 stumble upon users to read your post. If they find the content awesome and well written, they will bookmark it and probably lead to another thousand of free visitors.
Vic is one of the most successful blogger with this strategy who get more than 2,000 RSS readers for his “Blogger Unleashed” in a few months. He might not be using this strategy intentionally (not very sure about this). His videos on his blog are funny, interesting, jaw dropping and very helpful to everyone.
6. Leverage Social Networking Sites
You can spend money to advertise with Social Networking sites and get lots of traffic. However, there’s another way to sneak through this process and redirect traffic from these sites.
Do you know that there are Myspace users who have thousands of friends? Some people have special abilities to attract and make lots of friends on Myspace.
Add them as friends and build a strong relationship with them. Make sure they are someone who are interested in your topic. Remember to stand out from the crowd because they have thousands of friends.
Don’t promote your blog to them immediately. Wait till the day you think he/she is ready, send them a message about your blog (but remember not to pitch). Share with them the inspiring reason you started this blog and the difference you want to make to others. If you have something really special, he might post a bulletin message and many people will go to your blog.
Another way is to buy advertisement space from popular users. I know there are some popular members who modify their myspace background and are ready to sell ad space to you.
7. Leverage Video Sites
Heard of YouTube?
Of course, you’ve heard of it. It’s the largest video directory which anyone can share videos right there. There are few ways to leverage the traffic of YouTube:
Method #1: Video SEO
Google likes videos recently. By uploading a video with keywords in your video title, you are able to get on the first page of Google for low competition keywords. You’ll receive lots of traffic from this video if many people are searching for that keyword on Google. This is another way of leveraging both Google and YouTube.
Method #2: Popular Video Creators
Pay popular video creators to create video that promotes your blog in an interesting way. They might have thousands of users who subscribe to their video updates. Everytime they upload a new video, their subscribers will be notified and watch their video.
Method #3: If you think you are cool…
Create your own funny and interesting video. When you have your video shared on many websites and blogs, you are going to receive lots of traffic.
8. Leverage Successful Marketers
This might be one of the BEST Traffic Leveraging Strategy. The reason is simple: Successful marketers have a huge list of subscribers. If they found a great blog, it is very likely that they are going to recommend the site to their subscribers.
However, they usually don’t do things that won’t benefit them as well. You can start making friends with them first. Next, create an ebook or other digital products which contain a link to blog. Promote your affiliate program and give them a high commission (more than 60%). When they promote this product to their subscribers, some of them will buy and come to your blog for more updates about product related information.
The visitors that come with this method are high quality traffic because they are buyers who paid for the products. They are not visitors who are trying to grab freebies around the net. The only requirement to be successful with this method is that you must an expert who are able to create great products.
9. Leverage Article Directories
This is still one way to leverage traffic although the competition is much tougher. When you submit good articles to Article Directories such as EzineArticles.com, website owners might get your article and publish on their website. When visitors reach their websites and read your article, some of them will click on the link and reach your blog.
Many website owners no longer do that because everyone can hire free lance writers at a very cheap price. All they need to do is pay a fee as low as $5 to get an original article. Another reason they are not using this method is because there are lots of duplicated or crappy content on article directories.
Some Article Marketers will just rewrite the same article many times (that used to be me) and submit these similar articles to the directory. The quality is no longer there. However, there are excellent articles there too. Some articles are published on more than 20 different websites. I used to get many of my articles published on more than 10 websites. I got lots of traffic from them.
10. Leveraging Offline Media
When you are doing well online, try out offline. Although there’re lots of big guys out there leveraging the offline media, you can be the one of them too. I haven’t done this before. However, Joe Vitale shared one of his very successful story about how he leverages offline media.
He has very special reputation and qualification that a TV show decided to do an interview with him. After the interview, the show revealed his website. His sales skyrocket overnight.
You can use press releases by hiring a good journalist and write something really special about your company and have it on the newspaper. You can try what Yaro Starak did too, which is going on the radio. These are ways you are able to achieve great results with less money.
There are much more Traffic Leveraging Strategies but I realized that this post is getting too long. Hope you enjoy the strategies and use them to get more blog traffic.
